I came back to cycling after an 18-year layoff at the age of 36 whilst living in Japan, then found myself in the pro ranks within less than a year. It's really been a whirlwind since then, racing for several UCI Continental road racing teams all over the world, from Qatar and Oman to China and Belgium.
At 41, I decided to give mountain biking a crack just to change things up, racing my first off-road event in Mongolia in 2013 over 7 days in some of the wildest landscape imaginable. As ever, I was dependent on Lezyne tools to see me through the trials and tribulations that racing in the wilderness brings.
Reliable, solid tools that are always up to the job are an essential component to any rider's kit, and with Lezyne you get that and the dashing good looks too. Hands down the best stuff out there, and I've tried it all. Racing is all about support and teamwork, and I'm thrilled to be part of the Lezyne family. I need more handpumps though, my friends keep 'borrowing' them!
Aims for 2014
To give my all in every race I enter, and to move more into the MTB side of things. This year I will race on the road as usual and try to defend my Tour of Friendship title that I won last year, but I'm also hoping for a podium place in the MTB event Craft TransAlp, in the Croc Trophy in Australia, and I'll take part in Leadville too, where I'll be aiming for a top 5 spot.
